H W Hazelton of Los Angeles, who distrusted banks, was robbed of about 150000 in money and valuables kept in a dresser. The incident spurred opinions praising banks as the safer, lawful place to store wealth, noting burglars target homes with hidden sums.
The Supreme Court sustains a moon saloon law allowing one saloon per 1000 residents, potentially forcing about 800 saloons to close in the state. City councils with excess licenses must act promptly to comply.
Glenwood churches schedule regular services at Baptist and Congregational churches next Sunday. Pastor Stone and the Congregational pastor announce New Year sermons with topics The Last Sup and Crowning the Year With Blessing. Evening youth sermon titled Taking Inventory.
