Lucy Alexander Fatally Burned

Lucy Alexander eighteen daughter of Morgan Alexander was fatally burned today at noon at the family stone house in Lyons township. She stood before an air tight heater when her clothing ignited. Dr. Plimpton cared for her but she died. Other notes mention Mrs. Reveal's illness, an administrator appointment for Helmuth Bauer, and various social visits and events in Red Oak Glenwood and Council Bluffs.

Special Excursion to Panhandle Texas January 7

J E Ebaugh of Glenwood Iowa advertises a special land excursion to the Panhandle of Texas on Tuesday January 7. The trip offers low rail fare with fare refunded to buyers, Kansas City return travel, two to three days land viewing, a diner at 50 cents per meal, and automobiles to tour the land. Supt Moore will attend the state teachers meeting in Des Moines.

Typhoid Fever Epidemic Reported in South Omaha

Silver City reports Russell M. Jackson, son of D. C. Jackson, recovering slowly after a four to five week typhoid illness with a relapse in the past week. He works as a bookkeeper for Allen Dudley & Co. of South Omaha. Nurse Mrs. Anderson of Glenwood cares for him. Viva Jackson has returned home from work at the opinion office. About 100 typhoid cases are said to exist in South Omaha due to a poor water supply, with additional smallpox cases noted.

Hinchman Will Dedicates Large Glenwood Church Fund

The late Jos V Hinchman leaves 30000 to Glenwood Baptist Church for a new building and 25000 to the Iowa State Baptist Convention. Bequests include 10000 to Geo Fish and Dr E G Woodrow and 25000 for three lots and residence. Executor is Wm M Lamb. The church must be built within two years on Hinchman lots and residence site.

A surprise farewell party was given to Mr and Mrs Will Buffington of West Liberty on Saturday with about 60 friends and neighbors present. The Buffington family will leave next week for a winter stay in Texas.
