Warm spell caused rapid snowmelt leaving water in low spots as ground remains frozen. Water covers Lyall Street south of Donald while ditches and culverts stay blocked. residents and children hope for freezing temperatures to form backyard skating rinks.
Westman athletes dominated the Manitoba Winter Games finals held March weekend 2021 collecting 46 of 84 points to win the Manitoba Games Trophy. Patti Elliott Rivers captured gold in Ladies Singles and Terry Gibson with Linda Forsythe Brandon earned silver in Ladies Doubles. Reg and Henry Bartel Sinclair took bronze in Men's Doubles as the region placed second overall, just one point behind Parkland. Westman also earned gold in Men's Basketball through Brandon Jacket World and silver for Minnedosa, with Brandon J and G Lumbermen taking bronze in Men 30 plus hockey in Selkirk. Volleyball gold went to Boissevain, and track and field contributed 12 golds among 37 medals. Regional curlers from Virden, Boissevain, and Deloraine competed, while cross country skiers from Brandon posted top finishes.
Boy Scouts of troop led by David East camped over the weekend in the Neelin Valley south of Glenboro. Eleven scouts pitched tents on Bill Wilson's land beside Badger Creek despite high winds. Participants included Michael East Glen Westwood Dwayne Henderson Kevin East Wayne Harris John Westwood Barry Andrews Sean Malyon Chuck Nowazek Mark Hutler Reid Cummings and Greg Steinke of Ontario a former Glenboro resident.
South Cypress council met March 25 1982 to discuss water drainage NE 6-7-16W the Treesbank Ferry operation and the 1982 annual estimates. It approved a five year capital plan 1983–1987 and applied for a $25000 highway grant for ferry operations.
The Glenboro Spring Curl-A-Day Bonspiel ended Sunday March 28 with twenty four rinks. First Event winners were Carl Plohman of Glenboro and Beausejour, defeating Keith Wooldridge of Glenboro. Second Event was won by Larry Bjornson of Brandon over Eric Plaetinck of Glenboro. Third Event crowned Ivan Elliott of Glenboro over Mark Nowazek of Glenboro and Brandon. Third places went to Allan Williamson of Belmont, Wayne McPhail of Glenboro and Winnipeg, and Frank Arnett of Pilot Mound.
The Glenboro Mixed Curling Club crowned champions in 1982 with skip Keith Wooldridge and teammates Marion Haslen Wayne Davidson and Luanne Wooldridge among the ten rinks in competition.
