Two animals are in quarantine after a skunk tested positive for rabies near the village of Cypress River. Dr. Coates plans a rabies shot clinic soon. Residents are urged to watch for skunks as spring arrives.
Glenboro Agricultural Society honored six families at a February 25 dinner in the Kinsmen Community Hall for farm operations kept in the family for a century or more. Recipients included Mr. and Mrs. Herman Arason, Skip Arason, Ken Dowd, Ivan Elliott, Jack Gowanlock, and Gerald Rutherford.
The Glenboro Senior Bonspiel held March 4 5 featured nine visiting rinks and seven locals. The Jack Howatt rink won the Reg Budd Memorial Shield over Jim Gowanlock. Hugh Clark placed third and Jim Verner fourth. On the B side Clearwater beat Crystal City for the title. Social hour and meal followed Thursday’s play.
On February 24 1982 the Hospital Board elected and appointed members to key committees. Perry Hurton was chosen as chairman and Eugene Ehnes as vice chairman. Committees include Finance, Property, Personnel Public Relations, Executive, and Joint Conference with equal board and medical staff representation.
February featured a high of 9 on the 21st and a low of minus 35 on the 5th. Average daytime plus nighttime temperatures, precipitation, and snow details are listed with March figures showing a high of 5 and a low of minus 26.5. overall averages are given for both months including precipitation, rain and snow measurements.
On February 27 the Heart Foundation canvass was completed and by March 1 the final deposit was made. An evening gathering at the Chairman's home confirmed a total collection of $1234.50 from canvassers. District and town donations brought the grand total to $1368.50, a splendid community result.
Tammy Hutler of Glenboro, age 11, claimed the Silver Medal in the Elementary Ladies Division at Gladstone's Central Plains Championships. Judges ranked her first in Free Style, second in Figures, and she then placed tenth overall at the Provincial Championships in Steinbach among about 140 skaters. She belongs to Holland Figure Skating Club and is coached by Jacquie O'Brien-Moran. She skated as guest at Cypress River and St. Claude Ice Shows this spring.
