Twelve senior teams and six Beaver baseball entries contested the Glenboro tournament on Sunday. Pilot Mound and Cypress River split the senior division top prize after a day of close games, with Cypress River needing two extra innings to beat Carberry Bees and Pilot Mound defeating Boissevain in the semis.

Glenboro students showcased 124 posters for a summer fair contest judged in three groups. Winners include Carmen Asham Ist and Robbie Dalik 2nd in Grades 1-3-2, Paul Wilton 1st with Ryan Coates 2nd in Grades 4-6, and Leanne Jefferies 1st with Colleen Shackel 2nd in Grades 7-12. Posters will decorate town ahead of July fair. Glenboro Canucks won twice to move to third in the Santa Clara League, including a 17-12 win at Austin and a 5-0 no-hitter by Glen Barr against Long Plain before weather halted play.

Folk singer and guitarist Stan Rodgers died in a plane fire in Cincinnati Ohio on June 2 1983. He recorded five albums and performed at major folk festivals in Canada and the United States. His songs were covered by more than 30 artists across three continents.
