He lists education at Provincial Normal School and United College, BA degree, roles as Provincial CCF organizer, National Youth Movement president, University of Manitoba caucus leader, church youth chair, and urges June 10 vote to support a cooperative commonwealth in Canada.
Rural Municipality of South Cypress minutes from May 4 9 p m meeting in Glenboro discuss Cypress River Ditch and refuse special legislation. May 18 Legion rink ownership talks adjourned to June. May 21 adoption of prior minutes and approval of finances plus government grant for culverts on Hilton Road.
Lisgar electors face a five way race for the Manitoba riding with candidates Gateson Langtry Muir Pawley and Pommer. Langtry and Gateson are farmers. Pommer is a dentist. Pawley a schoolteacher. voters decide on June 10 in a key cultural agricultural riding.
Council motions read bylaws 1035 1036 and 1037 for taxation and transfers. The General Municipal Mill Rate for 1957 is set at 36 mills. Meeting adjourned to June 1 at 10 a.m. Davidson Nairn Brown Rutherford McTaggart.
Gail McLeod won the Clown Doll drawing at the Gaiety Theatre on May 31. Six individuals were confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church Baldur on June 2 by Rev. Johann Fredriksson: John William Frederickson Ed win Sveinn Sveinsson Garry Lyall Clark Sharon Anne Clark and Patricia Colleen Christopherson.
Frank Jewsbury of the Glenboro 4 H Calf and Seed Clubs claimed top marks in the Kiwanis 4 H Public Speaking semi finals at Rathwell Hall on June 3. The event selects district representatives for the Winnipeg finals in late July.
Velma Marie Gowanlock daughter of Mr McNinch and Bruce S McNinch wed at Bellefair United Church Toronto. Dr H W Kerley joined them in a waltz length ice blue gown. After a wedding trip to eastern Canada the couple will reside in Elmhurst Long Island New York.
The Glengboro Zig-Zagg ers 4-H club held Achievement Day at the ICCF Hall on Friday May 20. A large crowd enjoyed a music readings and other items. Winners included Helyn Elliott purple ribbon and others with red and blue ribbons.
The 4 H Clothing Club Buttons and Bows held an Achievement Night on May 28 at the United Church basement. Miss Lois Emmond spoke and awarded red ribbons to Norah Arason Audrey Richmond Carolyn Daymond blue ribbons to Linda Van Den Bussch Sharon Campbell. Nora Arason won fashion queen with Lorette Lombaert crowning her.
Last Sunday marked Empire Youth Sunday worldwide with a service at St Stephen's Anglican Church. The Queen's message to youth was read by Rev H Kerry Cooper, with Iris Jewsbury and Rev Williams performing the lessons and prayers offered for the Queen and global youth.
