Cadet Geo Sigmar returns to Glenhore on Tuesday and Miss Maggie Thorsteinson comes home for Christmas. Pierre offerings include Five Roses flour and Robin Hood oats. Weather calm, roads good, and a census of local events shows gifts, sickness, banking moves, taxes, and a successful poultry and seed grain fair with strong exhibits.
The Ward Tr councillor race drew large turnout as James Christie defeated Rev. R Paterson by a large margin. Christie won every poll with a 105 majority, carrying Glenboro Glencoe and John Steel’s polling listed. The new council includes Reeve Albert Carson and councillors Steel and Christie in Ward I, McKenzie and Styan in Ward II, Dewart and McKay in Ward III.
The Gazette lists a week of curling games from Friday December 20 through Friday December 27. Matches feature teams led by Doig McFadden McLean McKenzie Walley Cartmell Kennedy Dowd Arason Paterson McConnell and others with multiple events daily including several 2 end and 1 end designations and times such as 7 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. in December.
Pte. Bert Biles died in Winnipeg on Monday from the flu after a six day illness. He went overseas in 1915 and was wounded in June 1916. He spent twenty months in hospital and returned January 16 1918, mostly in Winnipeg and with friends in the district.
The W A G A and J A of St Stephen's Church held a bazaar last Friday in the church basement. Sales finished by 8 PM and attendees were pleased with the outcome. The event drew solid public interest and steady afternoon attendance.
