Manitoba Police Commission Crime Prevention officer Lorne Gregorash visited Glenboro School to discuss crime prevention with kindergarten through grade 12. Wildlife Awards Night crowns birds fish heads and raffle prizes
Glenboro and District Wildlife Association held its awards night at the Legion Hall on Tuesday December 7. Tom Carpenter won the biggest goose trophy at 6 pounds 1 and 1/2 ounces while Dale Fisher took Sharptail Grouse at 1 pound 15 ounces and Ken Cullen led Mallards at 3 pounds 11 ounces. Emery Stonehouse was Mallard runner-up. Mae Davidson won the fish trophy for pickerel 8 pounds 9 ounces from the Assiniboine River. Gerald Rutherford submitted the best deer head at 152 points. Ken Cullen was runner-up at 137.5. Karen Sawatzky hit a deer with her car last week. deer antlers measured 153.5, beating Rutherford by 1.5. Cash raffle winners were Irma Stonehouse Virden, Greg Shalage Carberry, and Morley Dowd Glenboro.

Nordics Fall At Wawanesa In Season Opener
In the December 6 season opener the Nordics lost 8 6 at Wawanesa. Glenboro’s Bob Jeffery scored three goals and one assist, with Bob Thompson adding two goals and two assists. Rod Noel and others contributed assists as Moray Jamieson, Jerry Hamilton, Ray Bjornson, Ken Cullen and Darrell Foster added one assist each. Daryl Ford guarded the Nordics in goal.

Vehicle Registration Fees Rise by Four Dollars
Highways and Transportation Minister Samuel Askiw announced that annual vehicle registration fees under the Highway Traffic Act will rise by a flat $4 in most classes, effective March 1, 1983, to offset higher processing and administrative costs incurred recently and expected in the coming year.
