Gienboro Post Office Celebrates Centenary With Open House

The Gienboro Post Office marked its centennial on Thursday December 8 1983 with ceremonies and an open house drawing about 120 visitors. Allan Skrumeda Mid West Division manager delivered greetings while Postmaster Allan Greer spoke and staff were introduced. Retired Postmaster G M Smith reviewed the office history and staff. A commemorative plaque was presented to Greer by Brandon postmaster Albert Perehuda. Wilf Turmaine of Brandon Postal Zone Supervisor attended. Coffee and birthday cake followed.

Trophies Awarded at Wildlife Social

Glenboro and District Wildlife Association held its annual Social and Awards Night at the Legion Hall. Fred Jackson presided as trophies were presented for best deer head John Morris 139 points Gordon Penner 137.5 points Jack Rolfe 137. Pickerel Trophy Ken Cullen 3 Ib 13 oz. Goose trophy Tom Carpenter 9 Ib Canada Goose Mallard Trophy Ken Lalonde 2 Ib 13 oz. Cash raffle winners Les Drinkwater 50 dollars A Baete 30 dollars Margaret Pinkerton 20 dollars. Sonny Mowbray of Ducks Unlimited spoke on Manitoba projects and urged a banquet and auction in the new year. a committee led by Ron Christie was formed to organize it.

Santa Claus Parade Brings Frosty Cheer to Glenboro

On Saturday December 10 Glenboro hosted a large Santa Claus parade led by Boy Scouts and RCMP Sgt. B Miller. The Brownies won best float with Brownies Ski with ET, while Girl Guides, Flying Club, Glenboro School and Stockton Royals received honorable mention.
