Progress on the Regina to Gretna pipeline shows crews near Glenboro with the Souris River crossing at Wawanesa Valley. The pipe wrap and laying unit moves across the river while another crew trenches and lays the line. Jim Barr of Glenboro drives the second car in the convoy.
The Revising Officer for the R M of South Cypress remains unnamed as he hunts the person responsible for last week’s errors. In the Auld Days column, a past wedding note recalls the Dowd Clemis couple’s vows ten years ago.
The 1986-87 school year opens with Bus routes resuming and students returning to Glenboro Cypress River and Wawanesa schools. Glenboro welcomes Principal Garth McIntyre and staff newcomers Karen Hamill and Norman Suilkowski. Cypress River adds Maureen Abbott under Principal Ken Storie and staff. Wawanesa lists Principal Ron Van Den Bussche and Vice Principal Peter Derkach plus new teacher Corie Pritchard. Glenboro Cypress River start on Tuesday September 2 and Wawanesa on Thursday August 28.
Tom and Florence Russell of Glenboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 17, 1986. They wed September 15, 1936 in Winnipeg. A Come and Go Tea in the C E Building featured 190 guests, piano by Lori McKenzie, and toasts by Frank Heyman. Dinner for 30 relatives followed.
Community urges careful driving as students return to classes. Parents and officials emphasize safety near schools and bus routes to protect children during start of term.
The Tiger Hills School Division board met August 19 1986. Tenders for 1986 87 bus fuel were approved with prices from Gulf Canada and Co op outlets. Resignations and retirements were noted for librarians and aides. Land sales and property actions were approved, with costs and terms set. The next meeting is September 9 1986.
