Urges voters to register by Friday October 1 for the November 2 general election. Also describes Wind Swept ranch opening in Buck Creek with weekend visits, two picnic areas and five miles of trails, plus notes a new steel courthouse square building and humorous definitions.
Mrs. Teddy Starnes, seriously injured in a recent plane crash that killed her husband and parents, was moved to the Rainbow community to the home of Mr and Mrs Logan Starnes after release from a Fort Worth hospital. She is recovering steadily.
Ex students and teachers are urged to attend the Glen Rose High School Homecoming on October 8 and 9. A Senior Class hamburger supper at Tiger Stadium runs 6 to 8 pm with tickets at 2 dollars. The Tigers face Millsap at 8 pm. A Saturday bus tour of the Comanche Peak plant site runs 2 to 4 pm followed by a 4 pm reunion at the school cafeteria. Contact committee members for help.
Somervell County 4 H Livestock Club opens its year Monday at 7 30 PM in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The meeting includes a covered dish supper and outlining the year's program. Marsha Stable of Stephenville will discuss opportunities in 4 H. Open to youths 9 to 19, the club covers beef sheep and swine and meets monthly inviting families.
Mrs. Ronald Sexton reports 55 Red Cross swim certificates issued this summer for Oakdale Park pool courses. Recipients span Beginners, Advanced Beginners, Intermediates, Swimmers, Basic Water Safety and Basic Rescue and Water Safety, with numerous individuals and families named.

Glen RoseUnable to sustain runs nets 77 rushing yards and 42 passing yards on 3 of 12 attempts. Hico gains 453 total yards with 356 rushing and 97 passing. key plays include Eric Parks TD return and Bob Burke 45 yard reception into end zone. Next up Valley Mills at Tiger Stadium 8 p.m.
Two North Carolina escapees Billy Ray Locklear and Thomas Graham Carr were arrested in Hico by Somervell County Sheriff Frank laramore and a Hamilton County Constable. They await extradition. Locklear, 25, and Carr, 23, escaped prison August 19. Both men faced charges of breaking and entering and larceny. Carr also faced delivery of a controlled substance. They worked as carpenters for Brown & Root on a local power plant project.
Somervell County Commissioners Court approved a $315,594.19 budget for the 1976-77 fiscal year after a brief hearing. Commissioner Willey opposed the plan citing salary allocations for justices of the peace.
Fans from miles around gather in Oakdale Park for a weekend Bluegrass reunion Friday through Sunday. Featured artists include Bluegrass Kinfolks Tuscola and Rainey Mountain Ridge Runners Oklahoma City with many amateur and semi professional bands performing for prize money and trophies.
The Fort Worth ISD and Glen Rose IDS offer free Adult Basic Education classes for adults without a diploma. Classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Oct 5 to May 20 with self paced progress. Enrollment is Monday Oct 4 from 7 to 9 PM in the high school library. contact Harry Lister at 897-4383 for details.
Mrs. Coleman Pugh of Rainbow and her sister Mrs. Lou Daniel of Azle were visiting relatives in Chillicothe for a few days last week.
The A New Jersey swine flu immunization drive will be held in Glen Rose at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday Oct 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Seniors get the first hour. Vaccinations are free for adults over 18 and transportation is available by calling co chairs Mrs. Ronnie Shackelford or Mrs. Wendell McPherson.
