Seminar in Granbury on September 23 attendance

Thrift Store to Open Saturdays by Church Group

The Thrift Store run by the Woman's Society of Christian Service of First Methodist Church will be open all day Saturday until further notice. It will also be open Tuesday mornings from 8 to 11 as before, officers said.

Tigers overpower Zebras to 52 6 home win

Glen Rose Tigers routed the Zebras 52-6 at Grandview as Bennie Nickell connected with John Shackelford for a first quarter score and Alan Thompson, Larry Jackson, and others added touchdowns. The win, a final nonconference tuneup, sets up a Friday road trip to Cedar Hill.

City Retires Paving Bond Indebtedness

The City of Glen Rose made final payment of 2000.00 on pavement bonds, completing 40000.00 issued in 1948 to pave all city streets. Mayor Walter Ernst notes the hard topped streets have benefited residents and visitors. Glen Rose remains one of the few cities its size with all streets paved.

Adams Named President Of Somervell Historical Society

Mrs Wayland Adams was elected president of the Somervell County Historical Society at a Sept 16 meeting in the bandstand outside the courthouse. Officers named for the coming year include vice president Mrs Charlie Moss second vice president Mrs Cecil Parker secretary Mrs Kenneth Taylor and treasurer Mrs J M McCroskey. Committee assignments will be announced later and the next meeting is Oct 21 in the courtroom.

Milam Jr. Buried in Glen Rose After Heart Attack

C A Milam Jr longtime Glen Rose businessman and civic leader died Monday after a heart attack. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Glen Rose Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Bailey Morris and Rev J L Glaze officiating. interment at Squaw Creek Cemetery. Survivors include his wife and sister. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers named.

Local Man Indicted On Forgery Charge

Otis Bud Moore of this city was indicted by the 52nd District Court Grand Jury on two counts of forgery and passing worthless checks. The forged checks for 20 dollars each bore the name Hub Gaither of Paluxy and were drawn on the First National Bank here. Gaither and Osborn were witnesses for the state. Trial date not set. Moore released on four thousand dollars bonds.

Glen Rose Dinosaurs to Again Be Shown on KRLD TV

A repeat airing of The Glen Rose Dinosaurs on KRLD-TV Channel 4 Dallas is set for Sunday afternoon Oct 10 from 3 to 3 30. The 30 minute program, filmed by KRLD in Glen Rose six miles away, features Trachodon and Brontosaurus footprints, a prehistoric dagger toothed killer, fossils and local artifacts. Local participants include Gene Connally chairing the Somervell County Historical Survey Committee and Walter Ernst mayor.

Senator Crump and Ward visit amid redistricting changes

State Senator Louis Crump of San Saba visited Monday and spoke with locals. He and Senator J P Ward of Meridian are colleagues whose districts were merged in statewide redistricting, forcing campaigns for the same office next year.
