Continental Telephone seeks $5.2 million rate hike in Texas
Continental Telephone Company of Texas filed for a rate increase of about 5.2 million dollars with the Public Utility Commission of Texas. President James F. Miles said the hike supports a service improvement program, inflation, capital-market competition, and rising operating costs. The company cites 78 million dollars in Texas construction since 1971 and plans to invest about 60 million more from 1976 to 1978 to upgrade service and expand.

A Cessna 172 crash during takeoff near Lynn Wright Airstrip kills Floyd Reynolds and his wife and their unborn grandchild. Their daughter Gina Starnes and husband Teddy Starnes are critically injured. pilot believed to have nose down stall. The wreckage was found after witnesses reported a steep low pass.
