The 1959 Farm U S Census reports Somervell County totals: 126,080 acres with 75.4 percent on farms across 296 farms averaging 321 acres. Cropland 8,246 acres. irrigation 565 acres. 214 of 280 farmers over 45. equipment includes 301 tractors 38 combines and 220 trucks. Livestock totals: cattle 7,947 horses 198 hogs 1,817 sheep 3,258 goats 8,234 and 22,228 chickens.
Sealed proposals for constructing 0.091 miles of widen Squaw Creek Bridge and Paluxy River Bridge in Somervell County 1.3 miles north of US 67 on SH 144 will be received in Austin until 9:00 A.M. September 19, 1962 and publicly opened. Plans and specs including minimum wage rates are available from G. W. Black in Stephenville and the Texas Highway Department in Austin. Usual rights reserved.

Miss Sharon Ivy daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Ivy married Jerry Lynn Keller son of Mr and Mrs Lynn Keller of Glen Rose at 8 00 p m Friday in the brides parents den The ceremony featured double ring vows Rev C A Starnes officiated The bride wore a blue and white Chantilly lace gown with a pearl necklace Her attendants wore white dresses The reception followed with white roses reed candles and a five tier cake Guests included Mrs Edna Ivy and others from Greenville The couple will reside in Whitney.
Linnie R. Lane, 59, died Wednesday morning when a car he was working under fell on him near Nemo. A Ford dealer here for years, Lane was active in Glen Rose civic life and remained engaged after retirement. He had an airport at his home and was an aviation enthusiast. Born August 18, 1803 in Johnson County, he married Neva Clements on September 4, 1921. Services held August 30 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Nemo. Interment at Squaw Creek Cemetery. Survivors include wife Neva, son Lynn R., two daughters, two brothers, two sisters, six grandchildren, and many friends.
Rainbow News reports Mrs. D J Shackelford admitted to Cleburne Hospital Saturday morning. Many families, including the Barcley and David party in California and the Hul sey and Hulsey visitors from Houston and Arlington, spent the weekend with relatives. Several trips home from Snyder and Midland are noted along with Fort Worth and Dallas guests.
Rayburn Ratliff and Johnny Ernst of Midland visited Rayburn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Ratliff, last week.

A Tuesday meeting at Waco drew representatives from Extension Service ASCS FHA and SCS to coordinate a joint program. In Denton Kenneth Wood and Jack Miller showed at the Dallas Area 4 H Club Swine Show with Wood winning first in county gifting and Miller entering his boar. County agents will attend a Stephenville district meeting next Tuesday and Wednesday while a soreworms control session is set for 1 30 p m. Eleven young homemakers organized a Somervell County Home Demonstration Club with plans to elect officers and schedule monthly meetings September 13 at 9 a m.

Mr and Mrs Clint Howeth and their family from Temple spent the weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs Floyd Howeth.
The Glen Rose Tigers host Granbury High in the 2A opening clash at Tiger Stadium. Granbury, with returning players, poses a tough test after Loy Aston breaks his ankle, leaving Chuck Gibbs to run the quarterback duties. The Tigers rely on veterans like Tiwater and Pruitt to anchor a strong line and Hulsey at end. Game time is 8 p.m.

Mrs Scotty Brown spent the holidays at Ft Leonard Wood Missouri visiting her husband who serves in the National Guard. She was joined by her sister and her brother in law Mr and Mrs Bob Wayne Burns.
