Glen Rose debuts with a 74 47 defeat as the Tigers host Koppers. Tigerettes win A squad 42 20 and B team 52 26. Upcoming non conference games include Itasca and a full season schedule with multiple tournaments and conference dates.

Band and Twirlers Compete in UIL Region VII Contest

Glen Rose High School Tiger Band directed by Harold Parnell competed in Brady at the Region VII UIL marching contest in Bull dog Stadium. About 2,500 band students from 35 schools attended. The band earned IV Division, twirlers Class I earned II rating. Debie Shackelford won Class II first division and bronze. Judges included J W King Tim Jones Orland Butler Jerry Tate Susan Pool Kathy Parsley. Director Parnell praised the group and aims higher next year.

Mrs. O. F. Boyd 89 Buried At Big Lake

Mrs. O. F. Boyd died in a Midland rest home at age 89 and was buried at Stiles Cemetery after services at First Methodist Church in Big Lake. She and her late husband lived in Big Lake before moving to San Angelo in 1965. he died two years later. Survivors include son Billy and daughter Mrs. Otis Basham, both of Big Lake.

Ballard Resigns County Custodian Post

County Judge Temple Summers said a meeting of the County Commissioners Court will be held Friday afternoon to name a replacement for John Ballard who resigned as custodian of the court house and grounds on the square citing ill health. Applications for the job will be accepted until noon Friday. pay is $100 per month for about three to four hours daily Monday through Friday.

Hico Couple Buys Bert Willey Home on Highway 67

Mr and Mrs Wayland Wooten of Hico have closed a deal to purchase the Bert Willey family home on Highway 67 and plan to move in. He operates trucks hauling silica sand from Capitol Silica Sand plant. The Willey family has moved into the John Clements house on Highway 67, after extensive improvements.
