Lightning strike shocks county offices at courthouse
A lightning bolt hit the county courthouse on a Wednesday afternoon causing electric shocks to County Attorney Sam Freas and County Treasurer Wynell Whitt, injuring no one. The sheriff’s radio was ruined and rest room bulbs blew, while phone service to sheriff, judge, and home demonstration agent offices was disrupted.

Ina Lee Leyendecker Rites Held At First Baptist
Funeral service for Ina Lee Leyendecker 90 was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. DeWayne Finley officiating. She died Saturday in a local hospital. Born October 5 1881 in Johnson County she lived in Somervell County most of her life. Survivors include three sons Maurice Gaither Comanche E H Gaither and George Gaither both of this city and San Antonio, two sisters Ruby Farrill and Bertha Morrison, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Burial followed at Squaw Creek Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were H C Polley Bob Gibbs Kenneth Miller J C Montgomery M V Worrell and Fred Echols Jr.

Fort Worth Man Charged With DWI
Horace Carman Hatfield of Fort Worth was arrested Friday night by Highway Patrolman Dewey Watson and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He pleaded guilty before County Judge Temple Summers Saturday morning and was fined and assessed costs totaling 90 dollars. This was his first offense.

Two Teens Escape Injury In Auto Mishap On Barnard Street
Donnie Davis and Terry Mitchell both 17 escaped injury when a 1966 Plymouth overturned on a curve in front of the Jack Bridges home on Barnard Street around 11 30 p m Friday. Davis was treated and sent to a Cleburne hospital but released after back injury ruled out. Mitchell was released from local hospital Monday. City Marshal Frank Laramore issued Davis a citation for failure to control speed.

Appreciation Dinner Set for Cong Poage in Waco
