Peanut and cotton marketing quotas vote set by mail
Sam White, ASCS County Chairman, said local peanut and cotton producers will vote by mail from December 26 on marketing quotas for the 1969 71 peanut crops and the 1969 cotton crop. Quotas require two thirds approval to continue. loans stay near parity while penalties apply to excess plantings. If a third oppose, loans drop to 50 percent and no quotas or penalties apply. another referendum would then be held next year for the following three peanut crops. Eligible voters are peanut growers with farms producing over one acre and cotton growers who shared in the 1968 crop.
