The Tigers earned their first District 11 A win by defeating Valley Mills 14 6. Billy Riddle returned the opening kickoff and added a four yard TD on a Danny Beck pass. Vernon Taylor led rushing with 74 yards as Valley Mills turned over the ball and intercepted three passes. The win leaves the Tigers 2 2 1 in league play and they host Dublin next. kickoff 7 30 p.m. and dads will be honored prior to the game.

Mrs. Luther Million Buried Yesterday
Mrs. Luther Million 65 died Monday after a lengthy illness at the local hospital. Born Bessie E. Daniel January 4, 1908 in Somervell County she married Luther Million November 5, 1933 in Glen Rose. Survived by husband, a daughter in Duncanville, two sons, four brothers, four sisters, and six grandchildren. Funeral rites were held Wednesday at Reynolds Funeral Chapel with Elder A. D. Wood officiating. Burial in Lanham Mill Cemetery.

County to Participate in Erosion Repairs on County Roads
Irvin Poff and Marion Porter outlined a roadside erosion project to be funded partly by RC&D and Soil Conservation Service. The court unanimously approved a $33,570 contract for 11 erosion sites with 73.9 percent SCS and 26.1 percent county labor. They also hired Eddie Flanary to conduct a population census in the area between Highway 144 and Farm Road 56 to gauge precinct counts, as lines may be redrawn after the December meeting. Additional action included approving paying $10 each to Gene Connally, Charlie Vinyard, and the Rainbow and New Prospect Baptist Churches for polling place use in the Nov. 3 General Election.

V J Maloney Sr Dies at 80 in Acton Burial at Acton
Funeral services were held in Granbury for Vance J. Maloney Sr. 80 a retired Seventh Day Adventist minister and missionary. A native of Acton he lived in Granbury area six years and died Friday in a local hospital. He authored The History of Comanche Peak and was active in Hood and Somervell historical societies. Survivors include his wife a daughter in Georgia a son in Texas six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial followed in Acton Cemetery.

Billy L. Myres, 45, of Dallas, was buried in Georges Creek Cemetery Saturday after 3 p.m. services in Cleburne. He died Wednesday in a Dallas hospital and was born October 13, 1928 in Greer County Oklahoma, son of Carlos Lee Myres and Flora Mae Long Myres. Survivors include his wife, his mother, two sons and one brother.

No word on Nixon recommendation to accelerate nuclear plant construction affecting the Squaw Creek site near Glen Rose.
