Lone Star Gas Rate Hike Granted by Texas Railroad Commission

The Texas Railroad Commission issued a temporary emergency rate relief order for Lone Star Gas Co. increasing intracompany city gate rates to 94.19 cents per MCF for residential and commercial customers. The measure raises a typical monthly bill by about 69 cents and could bring roughly $9.7 million in additional annual revenue based on 1974 sales. The order, effective May 1, follows arguments over rising gas costs and time lag in full rate recovery, with cities contesting only parts of the gate rate increase. Lone Star will seek ordinances from cities served to raise burner tip prices immediately.
