Bill Buzan Returned To Jail Here Tuesday

Bill Buzan of this city was picked up in Levelland on a warrant issued by the 18th District Court after he failed to appear for trial on theft charges. He was jailed Tuesday afternoon by Deputy Sheriff Rusty Bybee with bond forfeited and a new $25,000 bond set.

Sunrise Easter Rites Planned at Glen Lake Camp

Residents are invited to a Sunrise Easter church service at Glen Lake United Methodist Camp overlooking the lake on Easter Sunday at 6 30 in the morning. Rev Bill Schibler will speak, sponsored by First United Methodist Church. Youth choir will perform with a breakfast to follow in the camp dining hall.

Drowning in Brazos River as floods surge across area

Heavy weekend rains dumped up to five inches in parts causing creeks and rivers to flood. Edwin Lawrence Mackey 33 of Georges Creek drowned when his canoe overturned on the Brazos while his wife and son were rescued. Rescue crews searched through Sunday and recovered a survivor from another canoe mishap, Karla McClaflin. Mackey had recently moved from Atlanta to work in organic farming and art instruction. Weather totals showed 4.71 inches for the week, with gauges in some spots exceeding five inches. Reservoir and lake levels rose as floodwaters damaged roads but farmers welcomed the moisture.
