A 347 ton carbon steel reactor vessel arrived at the Comanche Peak plant near Glen Rose on a dedicated rail car after over two years of construction and a month of travel. The unit measures 44 feet tall by 22 feet in diameter with walls over eight inches thick. The vessel traveled from Chattanooga to Houston by barge and then to the site by rail. An identical vessel is under construction for Unit 2, due in 1982. Comanche Peak is owned by Texas Utilities subsidiaries Texas Electric Texas Power and Light and Dallas Power and Light.
Danny Butler who was elected as first alternate on the Somervell County Committee of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service last December has replaced Bill Pruitt on the committee.

Ted McLemore son of Mrs. Paul Mingus and the late J E McLemore received a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences on June 11 and will begin studies at Baylor College of Medicine in Dallas on June 23 He authored 14 articles and earned multiple awards including Outstanding Student Researcher Award for Texas from the American Lung Association and two student research prizes in New Orleans.
Senior citizens center dedication drew 300+ Somervell residents with County Judge and Commissioners in attendance. Doyle Cooper chaired ribbon cutting as Dixieland Band and local groups provided entertainment and refreshments. Volunteers offered wagon and wheelchair rides while organizers plan heating improvements.
