Four boys were injured when their car left the road near a low water bridge around 2 am on July 4. Rodney Sullivan and Azre Lowery of Grand Prairie were among the injured. Later, Mrs. Bob Pruitt and her children were hospitalized after a collision with a trailer. both were discharged the following Monday. The day’s worst crash involved Mrs. Lillian Pace whose car overturned near the Jim Ice place on Highway 67 and remains hospitalized.

Somervell County 4H boys and girls earned top honors in the Sears heavy litter contest in Dallas. Bob Morris placed first, Jim Brannon third, Weldon Crisp fourth, Casilda Leonard eighth among 86 entries from 15 counties. The county nets about 115 prize dollars, Sears funds 450 statewide with Morris’s 11 pigs weighing 493 pounds a strong statewide contender.
