Mrs. R. D. English and Mrs. S. L. Mann Jr hosted a gift tea for Mrs. George A. Day on January 14 at Mrs. English’s home. Mrs. Day and her family moved to Brownwood last week. Thirty-five guests attended, greeted at the door and served with pink carnations, pink roses, punch, and cookies.

Owners of Casa Blanca Take Over Management

Casa Blanca Courts are now under the management of owners Mr and Mrs S D Raby formerly of Dallas. The Rabys have owned the courts for several years and plan Glen Rose as home. Mrs Raby is the daughter of the late Charley A Walton former manager of the courts.

Googes Creek HDC Holds First Meeting of Year

The Googes Creek HDC met at Mrs. Lee Myres home January 14 with ten members and one visitor Mrs. Ruby Barker Graves. President Mrs. Faye Keller was ill. Mrs. Floy Hewlett presided. Coun cil delegate Mrs. Nannie Cavasos reported and the group decided to sponsor the March of Dimes dinner. Refreshments were provided by the hostess. The next meeting is set for January 28 at 1 30 p.m. at Mrs. James Russell's home.

Two High School Students Injured In Saturday Night Crash

Don Bruce Linda Bruce and Sonja Epps, all members of the school basketball teams, were hurt when their car struck a gravel pile near the west city limits on Highway 67 Saturday at about 11 pm. Don, a star forward, and Linda and Sonja suffered bruises and cuts. Don and Sonja remained in the hospital all week. Claude Hardie of Clifton, the driver, was uninjured.

The Somervell County Commissioners Court appointed E. J. Elam as county attorney to fill the unexpired term of George A. Day who resigned. Funeral of John F. Miller Noted Sherman Visit

Mr. and Mrs. John Zachary were in Sherman last Friday to attend the funeral of John F. Miller, grandfather of Mr. Zachary. He died January 14 at age 74. Survivors include his wife, one daughter Mrs. J. C. O'Donnell, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
