Break-in Reported at Fort Worth Country Home
The country home of Lee Bassinger, eight miles west of Fort Worth in Chalk Mountain, was burglarized last week. Kelley Lewellen found the burglary around 10:30 p.m. Saturday and alerted Sheriff Speck Strawn. loot included a Philco TV, a 20-gauge shotgun, electric can opener and drills, a car rack, wrenches, tool boxes, groceries, and liquor. Authorities had no leads as of Tuesday.

Area Group Pushes Development Plan for RCD Program
Earl Jackson, prominent local business man and farmer, was named Somervell County’s representative on a five county steering committee to guide planning for a Resources Conservation Development program. The group, chosen at Tarleton State College in Stephenville, aims to secure RCD status through the U S Department of Agriculture with involvement from Bosque, Erath, Eastland and Comanche counties and SCS officials. Members include Gene Gilbert of Comanche as chairman and J S Wade of Stephenville as vice chairman, with other appointees from Mingus Meridian Comanche and Eastland. Attendees urged full effort to craft a workable plan through SCS and federal agencies while the application is pursued. The Somerville County Historical Survey Committee met in the courthouse Thursday and elected officers for the year: Eugene G. Connally chairman, Sam W. Freas vice chairman, Mrs Joy Brooks secretary, Mrs Hossie Moss treasurer, Jack McCarty reporter. Connally also named sub committee chairmen for historical marking, history appreciation, history preservation, and tourist attractions. Funeral for W. M. McCormick Father of Mrs. Glaze
Funeral services for W. M. McCormick 80 of Waco and father of Mrs. J. L. Glaze of Glen Rose were held at Connally Funeral Chapel at 4 p m Saturday. He had been missing from a Waco rest home 12 days before his body was found near the home last Thursday. Burial was in Rose Mound Cemetery. Survivors include three other daughters three sons four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Attending from Glen Rose were several residents and relatives.
