Commissioners OK 10% Salary Increases Board action notes who gain
The Somerville County Commissioners Court approved a 10 rise in salaries for elected officials and employees. The four commissioners and county auditor did not get raises. Recipients include County attorney court reporter extension agents county judge county clerk veterans officer sheriff and deputies county treasurer and librarian with two sheriff deputies and a building custodian already getting raises. Justices of the Peace Precincts Two and Four set at 25 per month and Precinct Four constable at 5 per month plus landowners paid 15 cents per yard of gravel purchased. Also reappointed Wilson Loper as County Veterans Officer set relief night watchman at 2 per hour and ordered oxygen regulators for ambulance service.

Two Persons Jailed Here On Charges
Sheriff Frank Laramore jailed Ronnie Moses of Fort Worth on Sunday on charges of burglary of the Richard Moore home in the Cottonwood area. He picked him up from Johnson County officers who have him charged with burglary and assault. The assault charge grew out of an altercation in the Johnson County jail. Moses is being held in lieu of bonds totalling $20,000. He is under $15,000 bond in Johnson County and $5,000 here. Also jailed here is Aaron Hunter of Meridian who is being held on a worthless check charge filed by Gabe's Grocery & Station here.

First Graders Enjoy Breakfast At School

McNiel Charged In Sexton Mill Theft
Somervell County Sheriff Frank Laramore said Richard McNiel was taken into custody in Dallas on a warrant for the theft of wire posts and steel gates from Sexton Feed Mill on January 1. The value of the merchandise was placed at 600 dollars. McNiel is a local native who graduated from the community high school in 1961 and the investigation was continuing with more arrests expected.

Final Rites Held For Mrs Ruby White
Funeral services were held at Reynolds Chapel for 88 year old Mrs Sam Ruby White of Nemo who died in a local hospital. Born September 27 1886 in Rainbow she lived in the county her entire life. Survivors include two sons a sister three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Burial followed in Georges Creek Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home in charge. Dale P. DeShazo is the new assistant manager of the Federal Land Bank Association of Cleburne. He started January 1, replacing Bill Wolfe who became manager of the FLBA of Memphis. A Texas native, DeShazo was reared in Erath and Hood Counties, graduated Lipan High School, and earned a BS in agribusiness from Tarleton State University.
