Chuck Gibbs and Bob White received the Pat Wachsmann and Optimist Youth Awards at Glen Rose Optimist Club’s all sports banquet held at Glen Lake Methodist Camp. Gibbs, 18, earned four letters in football basketball track and baseball and captained the Tiger football team. White, 14, eighth grade, was grand champion in the Junior Livestock Show and captained football. About 225 guests attended with speaker James Earl Norman of Abilene.

At Tuesday night meeting the Glen Rose School Board accepted the resignation of C. M. Speck Strawn and named Eugene Ratliff to fill the unexpired term ending in April. The board voted to keep the tax rate at 1.60 dollars per 100 valuation.

Four Escape Injury In Crash On Sunday
Four local residents escaped injuries Sunday in a car pickup crash in front of Phil's Radio and TV Shop on Barnard Street. Rev. Joe English driving the car turned left into an oncoming pickup driven by Miss Coretta Hunter. Passengers Cody Hammond and Judy Ivy were in the pickup. Rev. English was alone. No one was injured.

Odd accident injures Glen Rose student near Rainbow
Roy Noack, a Glen Rose High School student and son of Mr and Mrs Roy Noack, was returning a show calf when the trailer hitch broke on Van Zandt Road near Rainbow. The trailer veered off the road and struck a parked car owned by Travis Lee. The car damage was about 300 dollars. The trailer was undamaged and the calf had minor injuries.

Car Burns Near Nemo In Friday Fire On Highway 67
A 1959 Chevrolet owned and driven by W T Berry of Cleburne caught fire and burned near the Schoonover place east of Nemo on old Highway 67 Friday of last week. Investigating officers report the car was a total loss. Mrs. Tish Thomas has returned from Stephenville hospital where she recently underwent eye surgery and is getting along fine.
