Rattlesnake Hunt Opens in Walnut Springs Weekend
The Walnut Springs Lions Club announces the third annual Rattlesnake Hunt running Friday February 28 through Sunday March 2 with the Fort Worth Venomaires providing cooperation. Venom milking for antivenom benefits servicemen in Vietnam and training areas. Entry fee two dollars, spectator admission one dollar. Prizes total over 200 dollars plus trophies for largest rattler longest snake most pounds of snakes and smallest snake. Ambulance and first aid will be on site. A street dance and educational displays accompany the event with Sunday afternoon prize awards.

Burrhead Thompson Hurt After 25 Foot Fall Hunting
Royal Thompson known as Burrhead was severely injured when he fell from a tree while coon hunting alone on A. R. Hankins place west of town on the Tolar highway. He suffered a broken pelvis rib fractures and a bruised lung. He walked ten miles to his pickup before driving three miles to seek help and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Cleburne.
