Barry Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund Established
A Barry Miller Scholarship Fund is set up at First National Bank by Rev. Bill Schibler to fund an automotive mechanics program at Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. Donations target 2500 dollars. the fund supports tuition and books of 83 dollars per semester twice yearly. Barry Miller died this week after a long battle with Hodgkin's disease and was known as an outstanding automotive mechanic.

Funeral services for Barry Roland Miller aged 19 were held at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Schibler officiating. Miller died in a Fort Worth hospital Friday morning after a long illness. He was born here April 11.

Obituary for C A Hulsey Buried in Rainbow Community
C A Hulsey 99 longtime Rainbow Community resident and former brick mason died Sunday in Murfreesboro Tennessee where he had lived with a son for eight months. Born November 18 1876 in Chattanooga he moved to Texas as a young man and married Iva Beasley in 1909. He was a member of Rainbow Baptist Church survived by four sons two daughters 27 grandchildren 51 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild Funeral held February 17 at Rainbow Baptist Church with burial at Squaw Creek Cemetery. He was interred by Brister Lawson Funeral Home Meridan. Pallbearers included M E Henderson Melvin Gambrell Earl Flanary Arnold Whitworth J M Davis and Lynn Keller.

Man Charged With Sunday Murder In City Courthouse Square
Larry Paul Bone 23 of this city is charged in Justice Court with the murder of Louis Carlton Carroll 21. The shooting occurred as Carroll sat in his car on the courthouse square about 8 p.m. Sunday. Bone was arrested in Atlanta en route to Indianapolis and is jailed awaiting transfer for trial. Carroll moved here six months ago and worked at Brown and Root Construction Co. Funeral services were held Tuesday night. Carroll is survived by his wife Pamela Kaye Howard and his North Carolina relatives.

Glen Rose Tiger Band shines at Region VII contest
Twelve Glen Rose band members attended the Region VII Band Solo and Ensemble Contest in Brownwood. Steve Bonin earned a first division rating and gold for a Class I piano solo and will compete at the State contest in Austin. Terry Wilson gained first division and silver for a Class II cornet solo, with Tom Lopez on piano. Monte Cheek won bronze in Class III piano. Bonin also earned a second division for a flute solo, with Lopez accompanying. Ensembles earned second division: a flute trio, cornet trio, and a mixed clarinet quartet. The flute trio featured Bonin, Becky Pettit, and Starr Gilpin. the cornet trio included Wilson, Terry Hatcher, and Todd Shipman. the quartet was Delinda Parham, Snerry Rhodes, Yvonne Cox, and Sandra Baker. Harold Parnell led the trip as Tiger Band Director and was pleased with the results.
