At the All-Sports banquet sponsored by the Optimist Club, Miller and Seldon Taylor received the top awards. Miller, Tiger co-captain and three-year football letterman, won the Pat Wachsmann Award. Taylor, 12, earned the Optimist Award for sustained school leadership and sports participation.

Nephew of Local Woman Killed in Dallas Crash
Mrs. Alfred Hewlett and her son Jim attended funeral services for Dick Sheaffer 27 husband of her niece killed in a three car crash in Dallas. The crash victim’s widow is Jane Armstrong granddaughter of W F Armstrong former Georges Creek resident. Mr and Mrs Gary returned to Bryan after visiting here.

The Glen Rose girls basketball team finished second in district by beating Itasca 53 47. Paulette Wilson led scoring with 23 points. The boys A team fell 39 35 to Itasca while the B team lost in overtime 49 44 with Gary Marks top scorer for Glen Rose.

In secret ballot last week Glen Rose Somervell County Chamber of Commerce named Walter Ernst Mrs H A Hunter and J E Jackson Jr to three year terms on the board of directors replacing Gresham Simpson and Parker. President Paul Hancock Jr announced the outcome and said installations and officer elections will occur at the next regular meeting. Thieves Take Batteries In Area Over Past Week End
Sheriff Strawn reports a weekend theft wave with about 0 used batteries stolen countywide. White Auto Store owner Jerry Deason lost 30 to 40 junk batteries from behind his shop and Gordon Whitworth’s two tractors in White Church area also missing batteries. No arrests were made. Memorial Hospital patient Robert Boyd moved home to Walnut Springs after a heart attack, recuperating with visitors restricted.
