Mrs. Bertha Watson and her son George English as well as Mrs. J. D. Stout attended the funeral of C. C. Porter in Meridian on Monday. Mr Porter was the father of Dobe Porter.
Bonnah Brawley daughter of Mr and Mrs Howard Brawley earned the A honor roll at Tarleton State College ending the fall term. She carried a full load and earned A grades in all subjects with Elementary Education as her major. White Auto opened a large new warehouse near Wichita Falls drawing dealers from Texas Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Mrs. G. C. Holden of Corpus Christi and her three sons and Mrs. W. D. Skiles of Cleburne, daughters of R. C., visited in Glen Rose this past week.
Groveton Feb 10 The First Baptist Church of Groveton honored D. Angus Currie senior deacon with a surprise birthday party. About 200 attendees, including county visitors, heard life sketches and tributes, and Currie received a birthday cake and a swivel chair amid warm thanks.

Hayseed Chorus will perform musical numbers and a baby contest with audience applause judging.
Frances Pevehouse of Glen Rose is named to the Dean's Honor List at East Texas State Teachers College for the fall semester. The list includes students enrolled in at least 15 semester hours who earned a minimum 3.6 grade point average.
The Glen Rose Home Demonstration Club met at Mrs. R. C. Leach on February 9 with Miss Viola Price presiding. Mrs. Lina Nix spoke on Valentine history and members shared valentine rhymes. 16 members were served refreshments. The meeting adjourned for February 23 at Mrs. Leach's with Mrs. Whittington hosting. W. F. Weatherford, longtime Somervell County resident, died February 14 in Iredell. Services were at Chalk Mountain the 16th, Elder Barrett officiating. Survived by widow, three sons, a daughter, two sisters, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.
Mr and Mrs Pete Hatter and Mrs John Ballard visited Mr Ballard in San Antonio on Sunday. Ballard is doing fine and has gained several pounds since being released from illness.
The Community School Organization meets Monday night February 21 at 7 30 in the High School Auditorium. The program features a masquerade using parents and teachers as models and aims to be enjoyable.
Floyd Davis Charles Bridges Jim Turner and Howard Brawley attended the German Business Men's Club dinner Monday night to discuss peanut problems. Speakers included Howard A. Akers chief of commodity programs and J E Thigpen director of the Oil and Peanut division US Department of Agriculture.
