Glen Rose Chamber Members Attend West Texas Meet

Eight members of the Glen Rose-Somervell County Chamber of Commerce joined a Latim pasas regional gathering of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce. The group participated in panel discussions on chamber work and heard talks by John Ben Sheppard and E H Banner. Tiger Relays Date Set For Saturday March 26

School officials announced the 18th annual Tiger Relays will be held Saturday March 26 Invitations have been mailed to 75 schools and about 400 teams are expected to participate in the track and field meet Complete details will be published later.

Jameson Named Precinct Constable in Local Election

Ed Jameson, who helps run the Jameson Nurs O Tel here, was appointed Precinct I Constable by the Commissioners Court Monday to fill the unexpired term of Walter Nicholson. Nicholson, elected in 1964, moved to Garland before qualifying. Jameson is a Democratic Primary candidate on the May ballot.

County Courts Approve School Tennis Court on County Land

Somervell County Commissioners Court approved an order granting local schools the right to build two new tennis courts on county land beside the Community Center across from the school campus. Judge Temple Summers noted the plan followed input from High School Principal Charles Gibbs and student representatives.

Three Men Uninjured In County Car Crash

Harold Bridges of this city and Darrell and Jake Kinnard Jr. of Hood County escaped injury when Bridges 1959 Dodge failed to yield and hit a 1965 Chevrolet pickup driven by Darrell Kinnard at the intersection of US Highway 67 and State Highway 144. Estimated damage was about 300 dollars per vehicle.

Wheeler Nabors Buried After Ten Month Illness

J B Wheeler Nabors aged 55 was laid to rest Monday at White Church Cemetery after services at Glen Rose Funeral Chapel. He died Saturday following a 10 month illness. Surviving son J B Nabors Jr of Fort Worth, parents Euster Nabors of Cleburne, three sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers included James Earl Norman and Nabors family members. Glen Rose Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Hood County Sheriff Williams dies in Fort Worth hospital

Sheriff J. L. Williams of Hood County dies Saturday morning in a Fort Worth hospital from a heart ailment. Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Granbury Methodist Church with burial in Granbury Cemetery. Mrs Speck Strawn and the sheriff’s wife attended the funeral in Granbury.

Commissioners Agree To Aid City With Dump

Mayor Walter Ernst and Lefty O Neal representing the City of Glen Rose met the County Commissioners Court and asked for help keeping the dump grounds in workable condition. They secured a trial plan to furnish equipment at half the operating cost to manage trash, with a permanent option if successful, to prevent health and appearance problems in the area.

Heart Disease Program Set at Glen Rose Palace Theatre

Announcement this week outlines two county wide programs on Energy As It Relates to Heart Disease to be held at the Palace Theatre in Glen Rose next week. W. M. Richardson of the Liquor Control Agent's district reported a Somervell County man pled guilty to possession of whiskey for resale and was fined 750 in County Court at Meridian after being arrested Monday near Bosque County.
