Hale-Aikin Committee Met Tuesday Night
The Hale Aikin Committee of Somervell County met in the high school auditorium for its first gathering. Twenty four members were named to the panel with Mrs Walter Ernst as chair and George A Day as vice chair. The group will study school standards finances and teacher supply and report to the Texas Education Agency and Legislature with recommendations. Four committees were formed and will report by April 15. Public input is invited as residents are encouraged to participate in improving the Glen Rose school system.

Jesse Parvin Dies in Big Spring Veteran Hospital
Jesse L. Parvin, 62, Somervell County native, died February 10 at the Veterans Hospital in Big Spring. Funeral services were held February 13 at Glen Rose Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Orwin Denman with Rev. Virgil Pace assisting. He was a World War I veteran who served from 1917 to 1919 in France. Survived by two sons J. L. Parvin Jr and Murray Lee Parvin of Abilene. wife and a daughter preceded him in death. Burial at Nancy Smith Cemetery.

Funeral rites for Mrs Maggie Nabors held in Hillsboro
Mrs Maggie F Nabors died Friday February 7 in Waco aged 86. Funeral services were at 2 p m Sunday at Marshall and Marshall Chapel Hillsboro. She was born in Alabama and moved to Texas at 12 settling in West. Survived by husband Henry Nabors four sons L H L D Leonard Nabors of Waco and Sam Nabors Hillsboro a daughter Mrs R T Owens Hillsboro two sisters Lula Evans and Claude Pappas West nine grandchildren seven great grandchildren one great great grandchild.
