Richard Round of Continental Telephone Company of Texas visited Glen Rose and announced over 115.6 million dollars in facility improvements recently completed. The upgrades add 300 lines and 200 new plant units to the local exchange with new emergency power gear and extensive cable work including a route to the nuclear power plant site. The projects involve 1,241,260 feet of aerial wire and burying 15,000 feet to serve Squaw Creek Reservoir dam project, reflecting phenomenal growth and planned relief until further budgets Arriving projects are underway in the area.

Somervell County Commissioners' Court held a regular session in the county courtroom. The First National Bank of Glen Rose named county depository for two years. Bids sought for a new fire truck chassis and equipment to replace the 1952 Ford unit losing insurance credit in two years. County Auditor Walter Ernst instructed to buy new calculators for tax and treasurer offices. A pneumatic roller was authorized for purchase from Jimmy Branham. Bids to sell the county rock crusher were accepted.
