Dr. H L Lunger Injured In Fall Near Town
Dr H L Lunger a Bible professor at Texas Christian University sustained serious injuries after falling from a hay stack in his barn on Saturday. He suffered a broken neck along with a broken nose and fractured thumb and was taken to St Josephs Hospital Fort Worth after initial treatment at a local hospital. He drove his pickup home to call for help and was moved by ambulance for emergency neck surgery with his condition listed as serious Tuesday morning.

Burglary Suspects Freed On Bonds

Banana Cause Cars Crash In Stephenville Area
A youth driver reaching for a banana caused a three car wreck Saturday afternoon. Charlie Rez of Stephenville lost control of a 1972 Datsun station wagon, hitting a 1964 Pontiac owned by Neil Gibson and pushed it into a 1971 Ford LTD owned by Leroy Gibson. Rez and his passenger Joe Walls were treated at a local hospital for lacerations and bruises and released. The Pontiac was a total loss and the LTD sustained heavy damage, according to Highway Patrolman Bob Brock.

Jerry Ice Fined on DWI Charge After Arrest Saturday
Jerry Ice of this city was arrested Saturday evening and jailed overnight by Highway Patrolman Bob Brock on Driving While Intoxicated charges. An arraignment in County Court Monday led Ice to plead guilty. Judge Temple Summers fined him 50 dollars plus 51.80 court costs, imposed a six month jail sentence with six months license suspension, and probated the sentence and suspension.

Flu Forces School Closures Through Monday
Local schools closed Tuesday afternoon due to illness in the community with about 150 students and three teachers absent. Superintendent J M McCroskey said classes would resume Monday morning, with time made up on February 25 at a teacher workshop day and April 8 9 during the Easter holiday week.

Absentee Voting On Bond Issue Now Underway
Mayor Dan McCarty announced absentee voting for a $125,000 revenue bond issue to finance water and sewer system improvements.
