A department and Joy Brooks a Reporter staff photographer are accused of being inebriated after Sunday near the Methodist Camp. Joy photographed a missing cross on the hill and later the cross reappeared on its base. Camp Superintendent Maurice Wise investigated and could not determine where the cross had been visible.
The Walnut Springs migrant secondary program, linked to the Region XII Migrant Education Program, uses portable terminals and a central computer in Waco. Katherine Cornett leads classes with Rose Ann Jackson providing training and instruction to boost reading math and language skills. Noel Blass of Fort Worth visited Glen Rose recently. Weather records note observations by Robert Mack for the U S Weather Service.
Frigid conditions blanketed the area with snow and ice forcing a second Monday school closure. Three inches of snow fell by Monday morning and temperatures ranged from nine to seventy degrees last week. Moisture from the snow and ice measured .52 inch per National Weather Service observer Robert Mack before sunshine returned and schools reopened Tuesday.
The Glen Rose Independent School District terms for Ronnie Shackelford and Thomas G. Rumph expire this year. An April 2 election will fill seats. filing by March 2 with the superintendent or county judge is required. Officials appointed for the election are Mrs. Melvin Gambrell Mrs. Eddy Flanary and Ms. Sadie Norman. The board approved cost of living raises for staff and ordered a new 60 passenger bus and the next school year to start August 17.
Funeral services for Terry Anand Cortes 65 of the Rainbow community were held Saturday afternoon at Boyd-Reynolds Funeral Chapel with Rev. Garrett Creppon officiating. He died in a local hospital Thursday born Electra May 27 1911 son of A C and Eva Carter married Gayle Stewart June 13 1944 in Fort Worth. He was a member of South Hills Masonic Lodge Fort Worth and Mossah Shrine and retired from the U S Corps of Engineers. Burial was in Squaw Creek Cemetery under Boyd-Reynolds Funeral Home.
