The South Paluxy and Paluxy River Bridges are expected to take 100 working days. G. W. Black, Resident Engineer, Stephenville, will supervise.

Funeral notices and community events in Walnut Springs
Mrs Wiley Day attended the funeral of Mr Finas D Graves 52 in Iredell Tuesday. Graves was found dead in bed at the Graves home place while working in Iredell. He was a building contractor from Ft Worth. The Young Men Class of the Baptist Church and wives held a party at Mr and Mrs W H Heartsill’s home Saturday night. Funeral services for Mrs Betty Smith 83 were led by Rev M L Daniel at the Church of Christ Saturday afternoon. Betty was severely burned when her clothing ignited near a fire and died Thursday night at Clifton hospital. She was raised in Walnut Springs and taught school for years. She is survived by son George Smith of Houston. Minnie Tarver has visited by Lloyd Tittle Jr of Ft Worth and aunt Mrs Clyde Tandy of Brownsville. Mrs Hallie Strange has her mother Mrs Lottie Green with her from Lubbock and another daughter Mrs Carroll Moore of Clifton plus an other boy she reared Mr Fred Mays of Ft Worth, one brother Mr Guy Savage of Houston and six grandchildren. Teel W Dunlap returned home from ten days in Meridian after release from hospital. The Senior class served a turkey dinner at the American Legion Hall Saturday. About six inches snow Friday night with sleigh rides Saturday. Visitors with Glen Miller and patient wife at Glen Rose Hospital include daughter Mrs Maurine Davis of Barstow California. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Miller of Muleshoe, Mr and Mrs Glen Louie Miller and family of Joshua, and Mrs Peggy Casey and baby of South Gate California. Four Escape Jail In Somervell County Break
Four men escaped Somervell County jail Monday morning by threatening Jailer Fay Edwards with sticks of wood as he carried breakfast. Suspects Johnny Hill and Robby Stanley, both previously jailed escapes, led the breakout along with Leroy Moore and Albert Lambeth. A statewide chase followed with roadblocks, aircraft, and multiple agencies. A stolen red and white 1954 Oldsmobile with license EJ 3673 was reported.

Somervell County purchased 60000 in Savings Bonds in 1960 reaching 84 percent of its county goal. Texas total bond purchases reached 152823432, or 92.3 percent of the year’s 165.5 million goal.
