Swaim's Killer Gets Chair in Young County Court
Claude Edwards, 24, of Ranger, was found guilty of murdering Clarence Swaim and given the death penalty in 90th District Court in Graham. It marked the first death penalty assessment in a Young County courtroom in 88 years. Edwards led a trio linked to the crime. Voters in Glen Rose ISD and the City of Glen Rose will vote in April to elect four trustees to the school board four seats total on the county board two seats for two county school board members and a mayor plus two councilmen. Terms of several incumbents expire with holdovers listed and candidate filing due by March 1 to appear on official ballots. City balloting set for April 4 to choose a mayor and two council members. no candidates have announced yet.

Car Registration Opens February 1 in County
Auto license plates for 1967 went on sale at the County Tax Assessor-Collector office with the first plates awarded to C. M. Shook of the city. Plates may be bought during February and March and must be displayed after midnight April 1. Speck Strawn urges early purchase and proper ownership papers to speed registration.
