J. E. Jackson Released From 49th Division
Specialist Four Jessie E. Jackson Jr. of Glen Rose was released from active service with the 49th Armored Division on January 31. He will be reassigned to the U S Army Reserve Control Group at VIII Army Corps in Austin Texas and inactive paper unit. Jackson was among reservists eligible for discharge under a new Army regulation affecting about 530 officers and enlisted men. He had five years of active and reserve service and had been recalled after the division was mobilized on October 15 last year. He was part of Company A 949th Ordnance. The 49th Lone Star Armor Division previously had 95 units in 74 Texas cities and towns.

Mrs. C G Campbell a retired Rotan schoolteacher died Tuesday night at Callan Hospital after a three month illness. Born October 28, 1888 in Glen Rose she taught 31 years in Rotan after moving from Glen Rose in 1920. She married jeweler Mr Campbell in 1935. he died in 1955. She was active in church civil groups and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Mrs Ora Jackson 79 Glen Rose Resident Dies
Mrs Ora Jackson aged 79 of Glen Rose died Friday January 26 in a local hospital. Survived by two daughters Mrs Helen Bridewell and Mrs Hester Mack a son Thad Jackson a sister Mrs E K Dougherty two brothers Andy Ellis and Wesley Ellis. Services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at McCullough Chapel Mesquite with Rev John Wheat officiating. Interment in Oakland Cemetery Dallas. Pallbearers included W A Bridewell Sr J O Swink Herb Hawkins Ben Mieth Le Roy Gibson and Kenneth Gibson.

Two Fires Hit Glen Rose Tuesday Fire Units Respond Twice
The Glen Rose Fire Department was called to two fires about two hours apart on Tuesday. At 5 p.m. a vacant house on Granbury Highway near Hood County burned down. Around 7 p.m. a barbecue pit ignited the Golden Arrow Cafe, damaging the pit roof and spreading to adjacent roof areas, with water damage to the cafe. The cafe is operated by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rives.

Two Car Wrecks Reported In Week Two
During the week two auto collisions involved four local cars. On Saturday Pat Houghtelling and Don Baker collided on Barnard Street causing about 300 dollars in damage. Monday at 3:30 R W Skalsky and Mrs Muriel Marquis collided at Shepard Street and State Highway 144 with both cars sustaining extensive damage and Marquis suffering cuts.
