Fort Worth Fat Stock Show honors Gibbs poultry winner

Coke Gibbs son of G C Gibbs Jr. returns home with two trophies and four ribbons from the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show Bantam Barred Rocks. He claimed first on the hen named best opposite sex and earned first second and third on cocks. Also 1,317 Somervell residents had registered to vote with expectations of reaching 1,350 before the deadline under the new state law. Mrs. Tom Price transferred to Marks English Hospital after hip surgery in Dallas recovering from a December injury.

License Tags On Sale Today From County Tax Office

New Texas license plates for highway vehicles went on sale at the County Tax Assessor-Collector office this morning. The black plates show white numerals and passenger car tags bear Hemisfair. Owners must bring title certificates and last year’s license receipt to purchase. New fees set passenger car rates by weight with a five and a half dollar minimum and varying scales above 3500 pounds.

Somervell County Democratic Chairman Lynn ONeal reports nine precinct county and district candidates had filed by Tuesday noon for the party primary. Henry Nickell Rites Set Today

Henry Nickell 67 a lifelong resident of Somervell County died unexpectedly after noon Tuesday at a Fort Worth hospital following emergency surgery. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with burial at Squaw Creek Cemetery under Glen Rose Funeral Home direction. Survivors include his wife, son Wayne, daughter Mrs Edgar Reynolds, two brothers Tom and Louie, two sisters and three grandsons.

Charles Gibbs of the Optimist Club announced plans for the annual Youth Appreciation and Sports Banquet on February 16 at Glen Lake Methodist Camp.
