School opening set next week for 1975 76 year
The district announces the start of the 1975 76 school year with a full day of classes next Thursday. Elementary students in grades one through six will be preassigned. new and former students must register August 20 with immunization records and birth certificates for new first graders. Junior high and high school registrations follow with details on locations and times. A 31 member faculty will assist the three administrators in the new building.

Leslie Hart longtime Rock Creek resident and FFA 4H Club helper earned an Honorary Lone Star Farmer Degree at the FFA Area VIII awards banquet at Midway High School in Waco. Fellow Lone Star Farmer Degree recipients were Ronnie Beck Sam Dove and Bridges Hague. Dove also won an Area VIII Agricultural Proficiency Award in Soil Water and Air Management. Attendees from Glen Rose included Mr and Mrs Hart Weldon Hart and others listed.

In a called meeting the Glen Rose Independent School District board approved a work order for Comapoment Construction Co. to build a CVAE shop at 28 044 dollars. The shell will be metal with a concrete floor and further contracts will come later. The board also granted 10 cent per hour pay raises for staff and increased bus drivers from 120 to 130 dollars a month. They planned to adopt the 1976 76 budget.

Bomb threat targets N plant under construction
An anonymous caller warned County Attorney Sam Freas that the nuclear plant under construction near Squaw Creek would be blown up. The caller threatened Freas and said “we might blow you, too” as security at the Texas Electric Service Co. site tightened entries and reviewed gates. Sheriff Laramore was not notified of the incident.

Three Mishaps On Area Highways Reported
Three auto accidents in the Glen Rose area last week caused heavy to light vehicle damage with no injuries. Rita Bennett rear ended by Richard Ewing on Highway 67 near the Brazos River bridge. Andrew Zavala’s car struck by a truck trailer near the Food Center. a Coca-Cola truck spilled 23 cases on Highway 144 injuring no one, bus delayed 45 minutes while crews cleared the debris. State troopers cited Ewing for speeding and investigated the others.
