The Glen Rose Church of Christ in Denton begins a revival Sunday August 7 and runs through Sunday August 14 with Logan Buchanan in charge. A vacation Bible School is planned Monday to Friday from 9:00 am with 10:30 am preaching and 8:00 pm evening services led by Gene Armstrong.
Audit of Glen Rose Independent School District Transportation Funds shows overpayments totaling 5578 from 1952 to 1955. Texas Education Agency requires repayment with 2026 held in 1954-55 and the rest deducted from future allotments. One half of 1776 due immediately. remaining balance handling described.
Visitors from Oklahoma Louisiana and many parts of Texas gathered for the Bosque Association of the Primitive Baptist Church in the Vocational Agriculture Building on Highway 67. Eighteen preachers participated in the for day affair.
On June 20 the President signed Public Law 88 extending the Veterans Administration direct loan program to June 30 1957 and expanding it to cover construction of dwellings purchasing farm and repair or improvement of a veteran owned farm residence. Loans remain limited to cases with no private financing and previously covered only urban housing or farm construction in rural counties Hood and Somervell are named among rural areas eligible for such loans.
Announcement states Glen Rose Independent Schools will open September 1 with pupil enrollment on September 1 and classes beginning September 2. The schedule includes Thanksgiving on Nov 24-25 Xmas holidays Dec 21-Jan 2 Easter recess Mar 30-Apr 2 and school closes May 25.
The Glen Rose Independent School District Board of Trustees will hold a called meeting on August 16, 1955 at 8:00 p.m. to adopt the 1955 56 budget. Interested persons are invited to attend.
Mrs Charles W Bridges, long time Glen Rose Public Schools teacher, resigns her position to become Supervisor of Libraries for Ellis County. The Bridges plan to move around the first of September. Mr Bridges will keep his Glen Rose farm and ranch interests and will farm and ranch near Waxahachie.
A family trip starts from Glen Rose on July 10 at 5 00 am and spans 700 miles to Pueblo Colorado Then to Colorado Springs Pikes Peak reaches 14110 ft and a top visit follows They travel Royal Gorge Canon City Montrose Eureka Nevada and San Jose California with camping in Big Basin National Park Salmon fishing yields no luck Ice Follies in San Francisco and a long Desert crossing with 120 to 125 degree heat Falls Venus Grand Canyon Rochester visits and a return home to Glen Rose concluding a wonderful trip negligible souvenirs and snacks bought along the way.

The Glen Roge Baptist congregation invites the public to revival services on the church lawn at 8 p m with Evangelist Rev Dr D D Seger of Fort Worth leading. Seger, a Southwestern Seminary graduate, has preached for 25 years and conducted over 300 revivals. Morning services start at 10 a m with nursery care and a Booster band for children.
Mr and Mrs Edgar Reynolds are proud parents of a seven pound baby boy born Sunday at Cleburne Memorial Hospital The infant is named Kerry Edgar Mrs Reynolds has returned home.
Karl Booker fell ill while visiting his sister Mrs. C. G. Campbell in Rotan and was hospitalized there. He showed improvement by Wednesday. The notice lists scheduled sports games across August including McConal against Macks and Bank against Methodist Church with multiple matchups through August 18.
The Chamber of Commerce reports a Board of Directors meeting set for Aug 10. The White Church Cemetery cleanup occurs next Saturday. A Baptist revival starts Friday and continues Sunday. A Sportsmans Club meeting is postponed to next week and mailings are being sent.
