Three Hurt as Dallas Family Wrecks Near Glen Rose
A Dallas family of three sustained injuries when their 1955 Oldsmobile collided with a trailer truck about 8 miles west of Glen Rose on U.S. 67 Monday night around 10 30. Driver Bob Pruitt fed Miller ranch trucks. Rufus Higginbotham and daughter Carolyn, 17, suffered head and abdominal injuries while Mrs. Higginbotham had facial cuts. Son Rufus Higginbotham, Jr. was unhurt. The injured were taken to Marks English Hospital.

Sister of Mrs Roden Rites for Elfreda Rummel
Miss Elfreda Rummel 73 of Rt. 8 San Antonio died Friday March 30 in a San Antonio hospital. She was sister of Mrs. Bill Roden and also survived by sister Mrs. Paula Hilgers a brother Julius Rummel and nephew H F Hilgers. Services were held March 31 at 4 p m at Alamo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev J Edward Marshall officiating. Burial was in a San Antonio cemetery.

Reported moisture totals show .24 inches of rain Monday night at the Reporter gauge, the best rainfall in the area. Earlier moisture noted .15 inches on March 12, completing March totals. January rainfall reached 3.7 inches and February 1.67 inches. April 1955 total was 2.62 inches.
City eyes 20 to 25 percent tax hike to cover costs
Mayor Roger E Marks and the City Council proposed an across the board property tax increase of 20 to 25 percent. They argued current revenue of 13000 dollars a year funds half bonded street debt and 6500 dollars for city operation, inadequate for services. They noted water and sewer finances are sound and opposed a right of way purchase for a palaxy bridge. The council also rejected Texas Telephone and Telegraph dial phone rate proposals.

In last Tuesday's city election 151 votes were cast. Gilbert Langdon led with 119 votes as the lone incumbent seeking re election. Gene Linch totaled 90 while Lewis Reynolds and A A Pruitt tied for third with 65 each. Doyle Aston and Jack Rives also ran. council will determine the winner.

The Tiger track team scored 21.5 points for third at a Clifton invitation. Clifton won with 42 points, Hubbard was second at 22.5. J. E. Jackson earned second in pole vault and first in high jump, Wilie Hart second in shot put, Jimmie McKinney third in 220, Larry Threadgill third in 880, Lilly Mitchell fourth in 880, and the 440 yard relay placed second. The mile relay team of Wallace Thompson, Mitchell, Threadgill and Hart placed second as well.

All school trustee elections in the county are set for Saturday at the High School building. Voters in the district will select three district trustees among John Shackelford Wallace McPherson G C Gibbs Jr Lewis Firestone Moody Marsh Orville Reeves.
