Jeannie Calaway and Jack L Jones married in McMurrey Drive Baptist Church Tyler on Friday August 30. Ceremony featured Rev Herman Knight organist Valerie Thedford and a local girls ensemble with a duet by the couple. Attendants included Judy Calaway as maid of honor and bridesmaids Martha Roye Linda Whittington Janey Calaway. Best man Paul Tapp. groomsmen Welton Jones Jerry Calaway and others. After a reception in the church hall the couple plan to live in Abilene September 16.

Mr and Mrs J C Duncan returned home Tuesday after a two week absence They went to Edna to be with his brother in law J D Townsend who was seriously ill in an Edna hospital Mrs Townsend also became ill but was not hospitalized Townsend is much improved and may be released this week En route home the Duncans stopped in Luling to visit with Libe Watts and Mr Watts

Peggy Coghlan Teen School to Begin Full Charm Classes
Peggy Coghlan launches a nine week program for girls ages 13 to 18 at Longview Community Center starting Sept 26. Classes cover posture, modeling, grooming, etiquette, speech, and fashion, with hands on activities and a Dallas bus trip. Thornton's Host Rehearsal Dinner in White Pink Decor
Thornton's Host held a rehearsal dinner Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at Don's Restaurant for the wedding of Carl Joe Thornton and Miss Brenda Cain. Rice Bag Party Honors Bride At McElroy Home
Mrs. Joe McElroy and daughter Monte hosted a prenuptial rice bag party at the Live Oak home. Guests arrived at 7:30 pm for an evening of visiting and crafting rice bags from white tulle filled with pink rice, later used at the reception. Crystal table settings complemented punch and cookies.
