William W. Crouch Dies After Long Illness at 82
William Webster Crouch, 82, of Gladewater, died Friday at 5:40 p.m. after a lengthy illness in a local hospital. He had lived in Gladewater 42 years. Funeral services Sunday at 2 p.m. in Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel, with burial in Locust Grove Cemetery. Survivors include wife Vickie, three sons Carl W., Herman L., and Gordon E.. four daughters Menora Moody, Lorene Kelley, Geraldine Fecak, and Mary Young. one step-son Albert E. Hillin. three step-daughters A. O. Huffman, W. L. Shofner, J. T. Holliday. plus numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

City approves Kay Acres storm drains and study
The city council in a special breakfast meeting approved storm drains for the Kay Acres and Gay Ave area to address long standing drainage issues and hired an engineer to study area drainage. Work on the sanitary sewer line will begin once easement issues are resolved. Attorney Ernest Martin said the city has answered a Tyler federal suit by George Gunter and Jeffery Lynn Ward regarding a stage production dispute and noted counsel Fred Erisman will represent the city.

Ambassador College to Host Area First ABA Bicycle Races
Ambassador College will host its first ABA bicycle races on Sunday October 29 on campus two miles east of here. The all comers event sanctioned by the Amateur Bicycle League of America features 13 races and 100 plus entrants vying for 500 dollars in prizes and 49 trophies. TPW approves youth group park permit and expanded access
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission in its Oct 19 meeting amended the 1968 state park policy. It approved a $12 annual group entrance permit for nonprofit youth groups under supervision, extended to aircraft and boat entrants with a 25 cent adult and 10 cent child fee for boats. Daily pool fees are 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children under 13. six-year-olds must be with an adult. Pools open to the public from the fourth.
