Study Plan for Development of Highway 271 Route
The Texas Highway Department released a study plan for developing Highway 271 from the Texas Oklahoma line north of Paris to Kilgore. The 125 mile route would connect U S 271 with U S 259 and Spur 378, linking Paris Gladewater and the Upper Gulf Coast region. Projections project traffic and volumes for 10 and 20 years, based on surveys of existing facilities. The plan follows a July 1967 request by the East Texas Gulf Highway Association.

Chandler man escapes injury in Chevrolet crash
Thomas J. Rozell of Chandler Texas lost control of a 1964 Chevrolet on a rain slick street near Dean Street and Tyler Highway at 6 15 pm. He was thrown from the car when it struck a utility pole and was treated then released from Gladewater Municipal Hospital. Police say a complaint was issued for unsafe speed no license and intoxication.

Christmas Club Checks Are Ready At First State Bank
The First State Bank notified Christmas Club members they may pick up checks at the main bank starting Tuesday November 12. Vice president Carson Kennedy said the club will disburse over $30 000 to 234 members whose Christmas is paid for this year. Membership for 1969 opens Monday November 18 and invites all customers to join with plans for every family member.
