Swimming schedule and class plan announced

Graveside Rites for Arthur P. Cole Held in Dallas

Graveside services for Arthur P. Cole lifelong Gladewater resident were conducted Tuesday at Hillcrest Cemetery Dallas at 11 am. He died Sunday in a Gladewater hospital with Sparkman Funeral Home Dallas in charge. Dr Harry M Moffett officiated. Survived by sister Mrs A O Phillips Dallas niece Mrs John J Mead Jr Dallas and nephew A Barton Wright Jr Richardson.

Gladewater Library Prepares Century Exhibit Before 1930

The Centennial exhibit at Gladewater Public Library will display items from years prior to 1930 during Rodeo Week. The planning committee requests family histories, old home or work articles, clothing, and photos of early settlers, businesses, churches, and streets with notes identifying people and dates. Deliver artifacts to the library or Mildred Barker at the Housing Authority before week one of June, with name, address, and phone number on each item.

Centennial Visit Revisits Early Gladewater Ties

Two sisters from Tyler and Watsonville Calif visited Gladewater on a Centennial outing hosted by Margaret Jenkins. They recalled doctor husbands practicing in Gladewater in the early 1900s, with tales of moves to Mart East Texas Cincinnati and Fort Worth. The visit featured memories of 400 North Main and Moody Creek Baptists with plans to return to Gladewater.

Union Grove announces annual play school session

Mrs Kay Moyers homemaking teacher at Union Grove school said the annual play school runs Monday May 28 through Friday June 1. Open to community children ages 2 to 7 with no charge. Classes 8 30 to 11 30 a m daily with games stories songs and crafts. Parents provide transportation. Pre registration not required. Children to be at homemaking cottage Monday morning.
