City Council Tightens Two Hour Parking Enforcement
In a brief regular session the council approved stricter enforcement of downtown two hour parking and offered a 1000 dollar reward for information leading to arrests and convictions of vandals damaging property within city limits. Thompson rites held Friday in Warren City
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Malcolm Stone Chapel for George Albert Thompson 69 of Warren City who died Wednesday in a local nursing home after a long illness. He was a retired painter and city council member and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gladewater. He is survived by his widow a son three brothers three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery with Rev B F Risinger officiating.

Jarvis Student Drowns at Hawkins Lake
Cornelius Smith a Jarvis Christian College sophomore from Port Arthur was found drowned in a swimming accident at Lake Hawkins on Friday afternoon. Authorities reported the incident occurred during recreational activities near Hawkins Lake where the student drowned.
