Immunization Clinic Planned Across Gregg County March 5

The Gregg County Health Department and Gregg County March of Dimes sponsor a free rubella measles clinic Sunday March 5 from 1 30 to 4 30 PM at four sites Gladewater Gay Avenue School Longview High School cafeteria Pine Tree Elementary School cafeteria and Kilgore High School cafeteria Parents or guardians must accompany children ages one through eleven for the immunizations.

Two Longview Students Expelled Return Pending Appeal

Two Longview High School students Robert A. Main Jr. and Bary Borders were expelled February 22 and 23 for an unauthorized school newspaper. They may return to classes this week while appealing to the U S Fifth Circuit Court with their fathers, who joined the suit filed in district court seeking to enjoin the school board.

Churches Join For World Day Of Prayer Friday

Transfer Applicants for Gladewater Schools Deadline Set

Students living in other districts who wish to attend Gladewater schools for the 1972-73 year must file a transfer application by May 1 in the Superintendent of Schools office. Officials urge early filing and note some students missed the deadline last year. Each year every transferring student must submit an application.

A blood donor event is scheduled Thursday March 2 in the emergency room at Municipal Hospital offering donors $230 per pint. Local health officials urge participation to boost supplies for area transfusions.

National Teacher Examinations Set For Jarvis College

The National Teacher Examinations will be held on April 8 1972 at Jarvis Christian College designated as a test center by Dr Eugene Langford Jarvis College prepares seniors and teachers applying for positions in school systems may take the tests. About 116000 candidates took the exams nationwide last year. Two Musical Events in Kilgore at Dodson Auditorium

Ray Scurlock Rites Held After Sudden Lake Fishing Death

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the First United Methodist Church for Ray Erwin Scurlock 56 who died suddenly while fishing at Lake o the Pines. He hadde been a Gladewater resident for 40 years and longtime Warren Petroleum employee. He served in the U S Army during World War II and was active in church and civic groups. He is survived by his wife Kathryn a son Steve a daughter Sharon his mother Mrs Huby Featherhoff a brother Bain Seurlock and a sister Louise Seurlock.

City Council Eyes Survey Plan For Waterworks Update

At a breakfast meeting the city council tentatively agreed to hire BLL, Nelson & Associates to survey and update the waterworks master plan. The study will outline immediate needs and five to twenty year projections to meet state regulations. The action awaits the next regular meeting on March 14. Incumbents filed for re election include Mayor G Johnston and Councilmen Curtis Bright and A F Shipp. School board candidates Garth Cockerell and Dr Robert Hugman also seek terms. The school board election is April 1 and city election is April .
