White Oak High School marching group known as the Roughneck Band won top honors in the Winnipeg parade and placed second in field competition. Judges praised their precision and discipline as the only military marching band in the event, traveling over 4,000 miles to compete.

Gladewater school board to reorganize amid budget talks

Gladewater board plans a second reorganization in two months after a quorum is reached. Lon Morris President to Speak at First United Methodist Service

The Lon Morris College president Reverend W Faulk Landrum will be guest speaker at the 11 am worship service Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Two Gladewater High School stars Emmett Lockett and Louie Pope signed athletic baseball scholarships with East Texas Baptist College in Marshall. ETBC coach R C Kennedy praised their potential to strengthen the program while Terry Hopkins recalled their strong high school records and close bonds.

Presbyterians Install Rev Tom Sisk at Gladewater Church

The Rev. Tom Sisk is to be installed as pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Gladewater at 4 p.m. Sunday July 11 in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Stephen L. Cook of Longview will preside and pose questions, with the Rev. K. C. Promey of Henderson preaching. Donald Crim of the Henderson church will charge the pastor. The service will include leadership from Rev. Dana Goodwin of Kilgore and readings by Mrs. FE. D. Dillard and Chester Maple. The installation commission meets 30 minutes before the hour.

Ambassador College to remodel Field House for concerts

Ambassador College Big Sandy plans a major Field House remodel to host a new concert series for 1976 77. The project includes a 40 by 70 foot stage, acoustical upgrades, 1000 seats, 1500 athletic capacity and 2500 auditorium seating, plus a maple floor replacing concrete and a new heating and cooling system.

City traffic survey set on Hwy 80

The Texas Highway Department will conduct a traffic survey on U S 80 through Gladewater limits as requested by city manager Tony N Williams. Tyler district traffic engineer W W Potter states survey will start soon after approval. Williams notes unsafe speeds near Lee Drive East Hwy 80 and Shamrock Cafe area, city hospital, and calls for new limits.
