Registration for the 1975 youth baseball season opens Saturday March 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Broadway school gym. Fees match last year’s. Draft eligibility requires tryouts. All players must register. those who played previously still must sign up. Union Grove youths register Monday 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Union Grove School music room. Sabine and Big Sandy players will be notified where to sign up. The program is for boys ages 7 through 12.

David Barton Dies at 72 in Longview
David Allen Barton Sr. 72, longtime Gladewater resident, died Monday in a Longview hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in First Baptist Church with Rev B F Risinger Jr officiating. Burial followed in Marlin birthplace. Survivors include three daughters, one son, four sisters, and one brother. He was born February 21, 1903 and retired from Humble Oil Company. Burial arrangements were handled by Malcolm Stone Funeral Home.
